Join Sarasota County Schools Food and Nutrition Services for an evening of tastes and talents, and sample chef-inspired, kid-approved recipes featuring Florida-grown foods.
A national program, Chefs Move to Schools, pairs chefs with kids to create chef-inspired, kid-approved recipes for the National School Lunch Program. Students learn culinary skills and contribute to recipe creation while chefs gain an understanding of the school foodservice industry and become familiarized with the requirements of the National School Lunch Program.
This event will be held outdoors to enjoy the cool, crisp air of fall and the beautiful view of the Phillippi Shores School Garden. Students, parents, school staff, the community, school board members, and the media are all invited.
The gala will showcase "Kids 'n' Chefs" teams and the recipes they created throughout October. In collaboration with the Farm to School program, Chefs Move to Schools will feature Florida-grown produce, take place during National Farm to School Month in October, and be an Eat Local Week event. High-tops, rounds, and other tables will be available for seating. Each culinary team will have a station in the dining area equipped to demostrate their recipes while guests sample and mingle.
Stick around afterwards for a private tour of the school garden with Chef Paul Mattison of Mattison's Restaurants.
A not-to-be-missed autumn event, Chefs Move to Schools will inspire you to plant a garden, get in the kitchen, and support healthy options for kids! 100% of proceeds from the evening will go to the Sarasota School Nutrition Association's scholarships for high school students in Sarasota County.
