Tired of the hand-wringing and blame game? Curious what happens when you mix business and science to come up with 100 here-and-now cost-benefit solutions to reverse global climate change? Join us for an evening of eye-opening optimism with Paul Hawken.
Paul Hawken is one of the most respected and widely read sustainable business leaders of our time. His work includes starting ecological businesses, writing about the impact of commerce on living systems, and consulting with heads of state and CEOs on economic development, industrial ecology, and environmental policy.
He has appeared on numerous media including the Today Show, Talk of the Nation, Bill Maher, and Charlie Rose, and has been profiled or featured in hundreds of articles including the Wall Street Journal, Newsweek,Washington Post, and Business Week. He has written eight books, including Growing a Business, The Ecology of Commerce, and Natural Capitalism.
Paul’s latest start-up is Project Drawdown, a non-profit working with over two hundred scholars, students, scientists, researchers, and activists to map, measure, and model the one hundred most substantive solutions that can cumulatively reverse global warming by reducing and sequestering greenhouse gases. The outcome of this research, conveniently packaged into a NYT bestseller, is Drawdown: The Most Comprehensive Plan Ever Proposed to Reverse Global Warming.
The challenge of global warming too often leads us to conclude it is overwhelming and unsolvable. Yet there is hope, backed by real science and human ingenuity. Join us to hear about this remarkable approach and learn how you can be part of the Drawdown solution.
MESSAGE FROM SPONSOR ELIZABETH MOORE
Vision and leadership are crucial if we are to adapt in this rapidly changing world. As a Florida House board member I am committed to a “Future by Design” and I do believe that by inspiring and leveraging community expertise, we can rise above the differences that divide us and collaborate for the better. To this end, I am excited to introduce you to Paul Hawken and the Drawdown Project. His team of scientists and research fellows have created a comprehensive plan to energize economic innovation, revitalize communities and reverse climate change. Doesn’t that sound like a worth while agenda? The Drawdown Project is a global initiative, but many of the strategies make great sense here at home. Come join us for an evening with Paul Hawken at the Van Wezel October 24, then join me at the Florida House to engage in our future by design. After all its our kids future too, by design or default.
