Thinking about growing your own tropical fruit, or just starting out? The Tropical Fruit Society of Sarasota (TFSS) will host a special meeting for new and wanna-be growers. There will be an introductory presentation, Fruit Tree Horticulture 101, by a local organic tropical fruit farmer. Meet local growers, beginner to expert, who are happy to share their experiences of this wonderful southwest Florida pursuit.
The Society is an all-volunteer nonprofit dedicated to supporting home growers of tropical fruit. Its monthly meetings include presentations by top horticultural experts, along with a tasting table, plant raffle, and easygoing social time. Tour the beautiful grounds of the Sarasota Garden Club and get tips from local growers. Visit the society's website or Facebook page for additional information about its meetings and other events.
No pre-registration is necessary. Admission is $5 at the door for guests (which goes to support the work of the TFSS), and free for members of TFSS.
