To launch this year’s Eat Local Week, Transition Sarasota presents an informative evening devoted to our farm-to-school programs. Our Keynote Speaker is Samantha Benjamin-Kirk, the USDA's Southeast Regional Lead for Farm to School. She is a nationally recognized expert in incorporating traditional and indigenous foods into school meals, which has been shown to increase the number of students purchasing healthy meals at school and reduce food waste. Her presentation will be followed by a panel of leaders in our local farm-to-school efforts. Please join us for an inspiring kickoff for Eat Local Week.
