Sarasota Food Policy Council Meeting

  • Selby Public Library 1331 1st St Sarasota, FL 34236 USA (map)

Presented by UF/IFAS Extension Sarasota County, this Sarasota Food Policy Council meeting is the follow-up to the early March 2015 meetings about the history and scope of the current food policies of Sarasota County's Comprehensive Plan. As with the initial meetings, the purpose of this session is to facilitate community participation in the current Comprehensive Plan update process in response to an appeal by Sarasota County Administrator, Tom Harmer.

This meeting is the first of several planned follow-up meetings around Sarasota County at various days of the week and times to accommodate as many people as possible. The goal of these meetings are to educate the community about how policy development can address many issues related to local food system development.  The format will be a World Cafe discussion following a short presentation of a model sustainable local food system by Don Hall of Transition Sarasota.
