Sunshine Community Compost is a local non-profit organization that is focused on creating compost and recovering resources in ways that grow community. Our mission is to strengthen community connections and give back to the planet through accessible education and action programs that increase local composting, resource recovery and zero waste efforts. Since our first pilot project in late 2016, we have diverted 17,000 pounds of food scraps from local landfills, educated hundreds of residents and youth about the benefits of composting and hosted Florida’s first ever “Compost-A-Thon” during International Compost Awareness Week.
