While working in groups can be fun, it's not always easy. Almost all of us have experienced groups that have been frustrating, draining, and unproductive. Meetings drag, personalities clash, power struggles arise, chaos reigns, and all of this gets in the way of achieving what your group set out to accomplish in the beginning.
How do we cultivate effective groups without replicating hierarchical structures or spending too much time on group process?
Designed for anyone working in a community, organization, social change project, or business, this dynamic, participatory two-day training will provide you with the perspective, knowledge, and tools you need to collaborate with others more effectively.
Specifically, you will learn how to:
- Decide which ground rules or agreements work best for your group,
- Develop shared purpose among group members,
- Communicate collaboratively,
- Manage conflict skillfully,
- Design a structure with clear roles and tasks,
- Use a variety of decision-making strategies,
- Run effective and enjoyable meetings, and
- Sustain motivation and involvement.
This training will be facilitated by Transition Sarasota's Executive Director and experienced Transition US-certified Trainer, Don Hall.
