Turn your kitchen into your medicine cabinet! This class will cover some of the most common kitchen herbs, how they are used medicinally, and how to prepare them. Delving into the world of herbalism can be overwhelming at times, trying to get a handle on all the herbs out there that are beloved for their medicinal uses. This class will show you that it doesn't have to be that way! Our kitchen herb and spice racks are packed full of medicinal plants that, with a little extra knowledge, can be used not only for flavoring but in assisting us in maintaining health and wellness, as well as addressing common illnesses like colds and flus.
You may want to bring a notebook and pen to record notes. This class will run an hour and a half and cost $20. You can pay in cash on site or by Paypal. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
Class instructor Caitlin McMullen is a Sarasota based herbalist who focuses on making medicine for her family and community and sharing her love of plants and plant medicine through classes, plant walks and consultations. She has had a deep relationship with the plants ever since childhood, but has more formally studied herbalism in the last decade, completing the Community Herbalist program at the Florida School of Holistic Living in 2014. She lives east of town with her partner and two young children, growing much of their own food and growing and wildcrafting many of the herbs she uses from their property. She is an avid advocate for local food as well as local medicine.
